SCM: supply chain & production planning
Production planning and forecasting are tied to Odoo manufacturing orders, so planners schedule based on actual demand and can adjust quantities without breaking the MO logic. This team-effort project was developed initially by our Senior Supply Chain Manager.
Problem
Production plans lived outside the ERP. Planners forecast in spreadsheets, then re-keyed manufacturing orders into Odoo, and changing a quantity mid-run risks mismatched components and stock.
Approach
I built SCM as a planning layer over Odoo's manufacturing order model. Planners work in an actual detailed planning view broken down by product and period, and approved plans become manufacturing orders through the Odoo API. Quantity changes go through a safe-adjustment workflow that checks MO state and component availability before anything is written back.
Outcome
Forecasts, plans and manufacturing orders now come from one chain of data. Planners can revise quantities without corrupting MOs, and production sees the same numbers the planning team approved.
